Your daughter sounds amazing and so determined! It saddens me that she is the one made to adapt rather than school adapting to her. My son was the same. Needing long sleeps every day after school, just to survive. I wish educators knew.
Thanks Julie. It’s such a shame that it took so long. And yes once the educators backed off and gave space then she found a way through. Sometimes it’s only tweaks, small adjustments and kindness that can help our children find their way xxx
Thanks so much for reading Mark. I hope your daughter is ok. Joni’s twin sister (my other daughter) is out of education and waiting for her comeback too. Schools can and must do better. Am hopeful that corners can be turned for all our children.
So much of this was like reading a diary. My diary. Your girl is amazing! Mine is too, but she's not ready for her comeback yet, and that's what makes reading accounts like this so valuable, it gives me hope, that better things can be around the corner.
I'm so glad that your daughters school seems to be on board with her. Unfortunately not all schools are like that, some are downright archaic and that's not only unacceptable, it's really sad, seeing a child who loved to learn beaten by the system that's supposed to help them grow.

Wonderful! Sounds like our girl, too. Most people don’t see the incredible resilience it takes to keep going in! That thirst for knowledge is strong.

Sounds so familiar. I hope she is able to keep enough resting to sustain her, it is such hard work being Audhd x
